Gabe Nelson, bassist, of Sacramento, CA. Plays the bass guitar in Cake. He replaced the original bassist, Sean McFessel, who left Cake for going to college, soon after the band was formed. Gabe Nelson then left the band around the time of the release of their first album, Motorcade of Generosity, which lists Victor Damiani as the bass player. Damiani stayed with Cake until after the release of their (very successful) second album, Fashion Nugget. Gabe Nelson then returned to the role as bass player in Cake. Gabe Nelson is usually seen playing a vintage Fender Precision Bass, featuring a cut down pickguard and re-painted body.
