[edit] Davien Crow

Nobody's denying that Davien Crow is real. You might make your point better with a shorter explanation of your points, with fewer capital letters. I don't have much opinion yet on the merits of your inclusion argument, but you came off sounding very excited and a bit accusatory. Your arguments may be better recieved if you make them shorter and calmer. Hope this helps. Friday (talk) 22:49, 22 September 2005 (UTC)

err, I understand you feel strongly, but the article hasn't been deleted, so asking for it to be undeleted won't help. The existance of the Afd already fulfills the function of getting more editors to look at the article and say whether they think it should stay or go. Friday (talk) 23:14, 22 September 2005 (UTC)

replied on Talk:Davien_Crow. rather rude, but the fact that you're launching tirades before revising content (which would be far more beneficial to your cause, imo, as a discourse of compromise makes for better rhetoric than a discourse of belligerence, no matter how right your arguments are). i'll try to be nicer and helpd out some later this weekend (almost saturday morning where i live). [edit] Davien Crow

Regarding your request to change my vote, read my comments again. It says clearly (I thought) "Comment only for now." At the end of my comments I added: "More later, I may even vote register my opinion." What part of that was hard to understand?

Please remember that Wikipedians have to deal with massive numbers of non-notable bands. There are many of them put up for deletion every day. The fact that the articles may not be acceptable for Wikipedia (I see you have taken a look at WP:MUSIC) has nothing to do with their worth or talent. It has nothing to do with how hard they have worked to get where they are. Wikipedians who do a lot of work on AfD get tired of seeing this and often refer to "bandcruft". (Cruft is worthless stuff that floats to the top of molten iron, if I remember correctly, and the word has entered wikipedian jargon to mean something that has little worth except to fans - you also see Trekcruft, StarWarscruft and similar.) So they may be cynical about more entries for a band and musician.

You also need to be aware that there were previous versions of the articles for Mind Pollution, Sin Star and Davien Crow. Under those conditions, the only thing that kept your articles from being Speedily deleted (under existing policy and guidelines) is all the material you put in them, asserting notability.

Remember also, that one of the pillars is that everything must be verifiable. This means external information, not fan sites or blogs or anything created by subjects of articles.

You have my assurance that I am reviewing the material you have presented thoroughly and will not make any decision lightly.

Does the band/artist have any full length CDs available and what label? Are they for sale anywhere on-line? Did they perform in any tour? If so, is there any verifiable evidence of this?

Be cautious, also, about appearing to bully or threaten. I think you are aware of this. Many Wikipedians will dig in their heels if they feel that someone is attempting to intimidate them, resulting in delete votes in cases where they might have voted keep, some form of merge or not voted at all. I do not feel as though there has been any threats, but others see some of your frustrated comments that way. I realize you are new to Wikipedia and not familiar with expectations of more experienced users and of community standards of notability arrived at more or less by consensus. Patience can pay off here. (I am still a newby in many ways; I have been editing since March of this year. I have over a thousand edits but since most of them are not in articles, they don't count for much. ( I also make a bunch of typos so one change might be 3 or four so-called edits.) I have learned that I have a lot to learn about how Wikipedia works.

Good luck and remember that it isn't the end of Davien Crow or Sin Star if the articles get deleted. If they are as good as you think, they'll be back when more notable and the articles will stick. WCFrancis 05:19, 23 September 2005 (UTC)

you're quite welcome. Some editors occasionally lose sight of Wikipedia:Policies_and_guidelines#Key_policies number 4 Respect other contributors. We may not always agree but I hope we can keep it civil. WCFrancis 05:46, 23 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Whew!

Hey G4DGET,
So, welcome to hell, eh? I can see this hasn't been going well for you. The words "block" have been thrown around a bit, and by now you're probably just about to the "so what if I am?" stage. You've also received some good and supportive advice, I hope that it is sinking in as well.

You're clearly quite involved, and I can respect a bit of passion. I won't repeat other people's suggestions on how to moderate your contributions except to recommend that you take it.

Independent of if and when the surviving article gets deleted (which looks pretty likely in the current climate) I'd like to alert you to the existence of Userfy. The article can be moved into your user space, where it's pretty safe from deletion for almost any reason. Something to keep in mind.

[edit] Wikinfo

You may be interested in wikinfo, which can be found here. This is another encyclopedia project that anyone can edit. They welcome all kinds of information, with far less insistence on verifiability, notability, and neutral point of view. I see that some of the bio info has already been removed from Davien Crow. I bet you'd have a far easier time making the article the way you want it to be, if it were on wikinfo. Please note that I'm not trying to say you're not welcome at wikipedia; pretty much anyone who wishes to contribute is welcome here. Just thought wikinfo may give you a better chance of making the article the way you want it to be. Friday (talk) 14:46, 23 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Links & Misc Comments

Hi G4DGET, I am having a great deal of trouble finding a lot of the references from your links at the deletion page as well as Davien Crow. Is there some way you could edit those so that they go directly to the reference you intend instead of leaving it up to someone who wants to follow up on them to search? If I search on Sin Star I get lots of hits for sin and lots of hits for star. Apparently common words in song titles. (Grateful Dead Dark Star among many others.

On another topic, I have registered on Wikinfo (after seeing Friday's comments) using the handle of Saint (talk there). Still checking it out. On Wikinfo, you have to register and log in to be able to edit. If there is no Wikinfo page when you searching for a certain name, it will allow you to automatically import the Wikipedia article (IFF it still exists) of the same name.

I saw your proposal on the AfD page. I must say that I am glad you're looking for compromise, but I'm afraid the view of a lot of active Wkipedians is going to be that three non-notable things together is still non-notable.

Stay cool. Today's IP for WCFrancis without login 22:56, 23 September 2005 (UTC) Oops, got logged out without realizing it. WCFrancis 23:00, 23 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Fleshisthelaw.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Fleshisthelaw.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 03:38, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
