G. Venugopal

G. Venugopal is an Indian playback singer. Most of his contributions to music is in the south Indian language Malayalam. He also has some Tamil and Telugu songs in his credit. Venugopal started his career in the film "Onnu Muthal Poojyam Vare"(1987) and since then has sung in more than 280 films and has over 250 cassettes to his credit. The many awards he has won including the coveted Best Playback Singer (Kerala State) which he has won thrice , the Film Critics award and the Kerala Kaumudi Gallop Poll award (again twice), Asianet Award 2006 and Kalakeralam award 2006 further reiterates his popular appeal.
Gifted with a voice described by discerning music lovers as "unbelievably rich", "lush", "opulent" and a singing quality filled with depth and warmth, G. Venugopal has in a short span of time made a mark as a singer par excellence.
G. Venugopal is a postgraduate in Literature and Journalism from the Kerala University where he was the "Sarva Kalaa Prathibha" for five consecutive years from 1980 to 1985. He resides in Trivandrum with his wife Reshmi and 2 children Arvind and Anupallavi.
