[edit] Proposed G-14 Superleague/Abuse of power by the G-14 clubs

Here are two topics for debate which the G-14 clubs are demanding talks on:-

[edit] Proposed G-14 Superleague

Surely if the G-14 clubs want to have a superleague, let them!!

If this was to happen, then block all of the clubs from competing in UEFA tournaments as any "superleague" would surely give them enough glamour matches to no longer require to play in the Champions League or the UEFA Cup.

I say this becaue surely the "superleague" would generate enough revenue without the need for any UEFA competition money. Dreamweaverjack 23:45, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Abuse of power by the G-14 clubs

Also, why do the G-14 clubs try to abuse their position within UEFA by constantly demanding a larger share of the revenue, when they have enough money already? Dreamweaverjack 23:43, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wrexham is a member?

The site reads that Wrexham is a member, instead of Liverpool. Can someone edit it.

yes please someone please edit it!

[edit] Celtic/Rangers Info

newcastle united are a member it said on sky sports news a few months ago that freddy shepard had gone to a few of the meetings —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.201.119.47 (talk) 11:39, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

I can't see the relevence of the Old Firm information. Nothing is cited, and the two consecutive statements seem to conflict... ie. Celtic & Rangers don't want to be members, but should be allowed membership because they have lots of fans. Does anyone know if they have even been invited to join? 69.140.65.251 00:58, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

Philbuck222 22:29, 15 August 2007 (UTC)==Chelsea's exclusion==

G-14 has had a lot of friction with Chelsea, one of the leading clubs in modern football. It should be mentioned alongside the fact that Chelsea is not a member even though it is one of the biggest clubs in the world now. Zuracech lordum 20:22, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

I suggest that this group has no credibility if it sees fit to include Juventus, Porto and PSV all of whom are Mickey Mouse clubs. In all honesty, how can a group of the big 14 in Europe omit Chelsea, Celtic and Rangers ? PalX 13:42, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Juventus is a "Mickey Mouse team"? Are you stupid? You learn history of soccer before commenting! --Dantemateo 21:03, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
Indeed. Personal opinions are not allowed in wikipedia. Only facts should be mentioned. How can Celtic and Rangers be a great club when they fail to even make it past the Champions League Groups Stage every year. Porto and PSV have reached the semi-finals in the last five years and Juventus, despite being relegated, are one of the richest clubs in the world. Zuracech lordum 09:07, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
No I am not stupid and I resent the personal attack. This is not permitted on Wikipedia. As for personal opinion, this is a discussion page, not the article. To clarify why I say they are 'Mickey Mouse'. Juventus' average attendance of 25,000 is only eighth best in the Italian 20-team Serie A league, less than 40 percent of their stadium capacity. They don't even play in Serie A anymore. They aren't even the biggest team in Turin. QED. PalX 08:39, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

Juventus is in Serie B not from the top division.

For you all, please read Juventus. You will see why they are a member of G-14. Yves Revi 22:10, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
History of G-14:
1996: called "Champions of Europe Association" with only 8 founding members (the only real great teams in Europe for its history, performance, official trophies and money: Madrid, Milan, Juventus FC, Liverpool, Ajax, Bayern, Barcelona and Inter).
2000: + other clubs ("Millennium members"): ManUtd, Porto, Borussia D., Marseille, PSG, PSV. For these 14 members the group is called G-14.
2002: + other clubs (Ultimate associated): Arsenal, Lyonnais, Valencia and Leverkusen.

P.D: "They" ARE even the biggest team of Turin and ITALY! Chelsea is the 4th team in London!

Who are Juventus playing this week in the Champions League ?

answer on a blank postcard please

Who are Celtic playing tonight in the Champions League?

answer on TV screens across Europe tonight.

Do they allow second division teams to play in the Champions League? NO

Does anybody in Turin care? (attendances of 25.000 !!!!)NO

Do Chelsea sell out every game ? YES

Do Rangers sell out every game ? YES

Do Celtic sell out over 60.000 seats every game ? YES

last question.

Why are Juventus in the G14 ? PalX 12:52, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Answers for your question:
Does anybody in Turin care Juventus? Yes. If they were not one of the biggest teams, they would not have so many ultras who attend in the stadium in every matches. You should come to Italy and you will see that Juve are one of the most beloved clubs in that country.
Why are Juve in the G-14? Because Juve have a successful history and they are one of the most respected clubs in the history. They had many famous legend players, e.g. Michel François Platini, who is the president of UEFA now. I will give you another example why Juve are in the G-14. They have won European Champions League, which Chelsea and Glasgow Rangers have not got yet.
Anyway, I want to tell you that your question is irrelevant here. Sorry. Wikipedia is the place where we put facts. Your question refers to the opinion of yourself and the other people. We do not write any opinion here. Thanks for your understanding.

Can I just mention to everyone how average Chelsea were before they got took over, they were no where near the standards of Juventus's history. Everyone on here seems to know nothing about football pre-2004. Juventus are European giants, they have won the record amount of Serie A titles, 2 european cups, they were the dominant team in europe throughout the 90s, they have reached the the knockout stages of the european cup a lot in recent year, including the final in 2003. Chelsea are a great club now, thanks to millions of pounds of investment, but they are not one of the biggest clubs in the world, Juventus will be far more well-known around the globe than Chelsea. So theyre in serie B, if man utd or liverpool suddenly got relegated tomorrow for match fixing, you think they would suddenly be forgot about and classed as a "mickey mouse side" despite their immensely successful history? No, they wouldnt, Juve will be back next year to take the title back from Inter and will yet again stake their claim to being the Italian giants which they certainly are. Teams like Liverpool, Man United, Real Mardid, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Barca, AC, Juve- they have all earned their right to be in the g14 by huge success and great history. Juventus might not have the most fans in turin but they are the biggest supported team in Italy. Chelsea didnt always sell out before ambramovich came along. If chelsea should be in it, thats debatable for a club with no success in champions league history, however I know that for definite previous winners like Porto, Juve and PSV should definitely not be taken out. Just because you have little knowledge on the subject of history of football and think theyre "mickey mouse clubs" that shows how uneducated you are. PSV and Porto have won the european cup on multiple occasions- they are both huge sides in their respected countries. Please guys, Juve, PSV and Porto all deserve a place more than chelsea- they have been there for years unlike chelsea who wouldnt even be considered was it not for very recent success thanks to hundreds of million of pounds of investment. In my opinion, if you were to take out 3 teams it certainly shouldnt be psv, juve or porto, but instead PSG, Leverkusen and Marseilles- who have had less success than the others. Even though leverkusen came runners up the year they were inducted, they have never won the german league.81.155.72.81 12:14, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

    • why don't you write your name ? you big brave guy hiding behing anonymity calling people you don't know uneducated ! PalX 10:50, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
I couldn't agree with you more. Yves Revi 21:06, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

This is a ridiculous argument.Philbuck222 22:29, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New Membership Possibility for Chelsea

There have been talks about 'possibility' that Chelsea would become new member of G-14. However, there has not been any report recently confirming such claims, nor claims that negotiation between both parties are ongoing. Secondly, every football club has a 'possibility' to become new member, and Chelsea FC is not the only the potential candidate. Therefore, the mention of Chelsea as the 'New Member Possibility' does not seem to be factual that should be included in the article and thus has been removed.

  • Or perhaps a future members section should be included, with the possibility of Rangers, Celtic and Chelsea joining before the end of the year. See the link below for more details. --CharlieA 18:17, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Inter Milan

are not listed on the page. However they are on the image. Why? Philbuck222 12:55, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Inter Milan have now been added. Philbuck222 22:28, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Why hasn't it changed name?

Its called the G-14, but there are now 18 clubs. You'd think they'd change the name to go with it. - Soprani 01:03, 25 September 2007 (UTC) Yeah you would. But they didn't Philbuck222 18:19, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Expansion

According to Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet, these 22 clubs were asked too join. Sevilla, Chelsea, AS Roma, Monaco, Werder Bremen, Benfica, Celtic, Red Star Belgrade, Steaua Bucharest, CSKA Moscow, Dinamo Kiev, Sparta Praha, Wisla Krakow, Levski Sofia, Anderlecht, Fenerbahce, Olympiacos, Basle, Maccabi Haifa, Rosenborg, FC Copenhagen and Austria Wien. Somebody who knows why a club like Rangers wasn't asked? In my opinion a bigger clud than several of these 22 clubs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kjello0 (talkcontribs) 11:57, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] G-14 disbanded

It no longer exists except as a secret society seeking to take over the world through football. No word as to if David Rockefeller is part.

[edit] Composition Amendment

The last sentence of the composition section reads like a piece of trivia: "The 2004 Champions League final was the first in that competition since 1992 in which one of the finalists was not a G-14 member; the 2004 final featured member Porto and non-member AS Monaco." Suggest it be rewritten so the subject is more obviously the G-14.

Consider: "Every Champions League Final from 1992 to the present has been a match between two G-14 members, with the exception of the 2004 Final between FC Porto and AS Monaco. Also, of the 52 European Cup finals that have been held, G-14 members collectively account for 41 wins." Max xxx (talk) 00:52, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
