Göteborgs-Posten (GP) is a major daily newspaper in Sweden. It is published in Gothenburg, with good coverage of local, regional, national and international topics. It is chiefly distributed in western Götaland. It has the second largest national circulation, after Dagens Nyheter and before Svenska Dagbladet. It reaches about 600 000 people every day, with a circulation of 245 700 in 2006.[1] The stated position of the editorial page is liberal.
Göteborgs-Posten was first published in 1813, but ceased publication in 1822. It re-appeared in 1850. Publication of editions seven days a week began in 1939. It changed its format from the classic broadsheet to compact on October 5, 2004.
