From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi, Gustavo86, Welcome to Wikipedia!
I hope you like this place — I sure do — and want to stay. Before getting too in-depth, you may want to read about the Five pillars of Wikipedia and simplified ruleset. If you need help on how to title new articles check out the naming conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the manual of style. If you need help look at Wikipedia:Help and the FAQ , plus if you can't find your answer there, check the Village Pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions)! There's still more help at the Tutorial and Policy Library. Plus, don't forget to visit the Community Portal. And if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on my user talk page or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will be by to help you shortly.

[edit] Additional tips

Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the 'pedia!

  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes (~). If you use four, you can add a datestamp too. Five will get you the datestamp only.
  • You may want to add yourself to the new user log.
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
  • If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.
  • If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random page button in the sidebar, or check out the Open Task message in the Community Portal.

[edit] Montevideo Friend

I have been to Uruguay 3 times, and the more I go, the more I love it. I currently have a wife who lives there along with her lovely 7 year-old daughter, and I plan in some time to finally move there and stay with them the rest of our days. I can think of nothing better than to keep the smiles on their lovely faces. I had always wanted to move away from the US, and always thought I would wind up in London, but I just find myself at total peace of mind with them in Montevideo (and Parque De La Plata as well). Do you miss home? I know I do! Chau por ahora!Brasseye 05:00, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Uruguyan

I do live in Australia, my parents are from Uruguay... and frankly i hate uruguay... It's a very poor country that really needs to save itself...

augrunt 12:31, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Uruguay is middle income country for your information. If you want real poverty then go to africa or central america. Regarding your feelings towards Uruguay, it is your personal reaction to it,so that's fine, hope you can feel happy and integrated in Australia, and in a consumer society.

[edit] Buffy nomination restarted

Since you have were involved with discussion before at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Buffy the Vampire Slayer, you might appreciate knowing that the nomination for the Buffy articles has been restared at the same wiki page. I am letting everyone know who might not be aware (whether they were for or against the article becoming featured). Cheers -- Buffyverse 22:35, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Dulce de leche

Hi Gustavo! Good thing you've chosen to participate in the project. Regarding dulce de leche, note that I'm only saying that Argentina is home to dulce de leche, not the birthplace of it, although in fact the dulce de leche article cites an Argentine origin as the main legend. Anyway, the two countries were once part of a single land and were separated merely due to a series of political accidents... like every country in the world, really, since borders are an invention of military men and politicians. :). Saludos. —Pablo D. Flores (Talk) 00:15, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for the help

Thanks again. Voseo is completely new to me (I learned by listening to Mexican Spanish), so your corrections are very helpful. See you around! Bhumiya (said/done) 16:11, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Uruguayan cuisine

There does appear to be an article on the subject, but it isn't nearly as extensive as the one you wrote. I'll probably translate each of the Spanish subsections and graft them onto the existing English intro. Bhumiya (said/done) 21:56, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Paul Groussac translation

Hi, Gustavo. This guy isn't a Uruguayan, but I wonder if you would mind looking at my translation of Paul Groussac. It's no work of art, but I figure it should at least be free of grammatical errors. Thanks! Bhumiya (said/done)

Thanks! I think when I was writing the English article, I was using a paraphrased quotation which omitted "who was French". When I wrote the Spanish translation, I found a direct quotation in an interview. Bhumiya (said/done) 23:56, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Tokoblue

I believe he's violating copyright at the commons as well. Someone uploaded a fair use image to the commons, and he used it all over. Es.—Ryūlóng (竜龍) 07:20, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Uruguay towns

Hola amigo thanks. I did intend going through each department and creating some templates. I only did one or two. Quisiera añadir todos de los pueblos! I know they were stubs but I thought there might be some info avilabale in spanish to expand them or if there are any Uruguayans on here!! Best regards, I'll try to start some more later. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 09:50, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
