Générique is the 17th track from the soundtrack to the 1957 French film Ascenseur pour l'échafaud, which was composed by jazz trumpet player Miles Davis.

The song is almost identical the third track on the album, Nuit Sur Les Champs-Elysees (Take 3) (Generique), except that it is approximately 40 seconds longer in duration and features a notable reverb in contrast to much of the rest of the album.

The song was played in the background at the end of part 8 of Ken Burns' documentary series Jazz, during which the narrator discusses Miles Davis' resolution to kick his heroin addiction.
