Gällivare Municipality (Gällivare kommun) is a municipality in Norrbotten County, northern Sweden. Its seat is in the town Gällivare.

The municipalty is the third largest in Sweden, but it has not been amalgamated with other enitities.

Gällivare is a multilingual municipality, a sizeable portion of the population is made up of Finnish and Sami speakers. Nearly 40 cases of the rare genetic disorder CIPA have been reported in Gällivare.

Adjacent to the town Gällivare (about 5 km) is Malmberget, population 5,500, known as a site for iron ore extraction from deep mines by LKAB. The third largest locality is Koskullskulle with 1,000 inhabitants.

Outside Gällivare, the ski-resort Dundret is located. The ski-resort is equipped with six lifts and ten groomed slopes along with a conference center and hotel named "Björnfällan". The ski season stretches from the end of October all the way into early may.

Gällivare also hosts an airport, (Gällivare Airport), the closest one to national parks Sarek and Padjelanta making it popular for hikers.

The largest sports association in Gällivare is Gällivare Sportklubb (GSK). GSK's colors are red and white.

Gällivare is also the central place for The Firstborn Laestadianism.
