[edit] Why this essay?
Besides being fun to do, it is helping me find and collect some resources I hope to use in a future article on hunting in Greenland, which of course won't include Rudolph or the personal anecdotes. Therefore the format is not standard, such as the long list of See also links, the Gallery, and the External links. It is my workplace. Otherwise, as the essay is now written, everything except the parts about Rudolph is true.
Hunting in Greenland is fantastic. One really gets close to nature and in touch with the more primitive survival/hunter parts of one's psyche. One is constantly reminded of the power of nature, and that being prepared is always necessary when dealing with the extreme climate.
I have lived in Japan, Korea, the Philippines, California, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Alabama, Denmark, and Greenland, and Greenland has been the greatest experience of my life. You either hate it or you love it, and we loved it and will always remember our experiences there. It's a land that leaves deep impressions, possibly because of the extremes (often in life or death situations), freedom, and great natural beauty. I suspect people who have lived in Alaska feel much the same way. -- Fyslee/talk 06:29, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
