fxguide is a visual effects and post production community website founded by three award winning visual effects artists. Jeff Heusser[1], John Montgomery[2] and Mike Seymour[3].

Starting out as a web site to expand on tips, tricks and frequently asked questions arising on flame-news, an email newsgroup related to the [compositing] application Discreet Flame. Initially the sole focus was on high-end compositing with this particular package but it evolved over the years to the main resource for visual effects news and training on the web.

Split into the free fxguide website for news and inside interviews and the membership-based fxphd visual effects training site, both branches hold a strong reputation throughout the industry for fostering talent and training some of the best artists in the visual effects and post production world.

[edit] fxguide TV

On July 18 of 2007 fxguidetv launched as a HD video podcast featuring in-depth interviews with heavyweights of the visual effects industry, film scene reviews and industry coverage of news events. The show is hosted by Angie Richards. Past guests on fxguidetv included Oscar winners Dennis Muren and Ken Ralston as well as camera innovator Ted Schilowitz of RED Digital Cinema.
