Fury for Another was a three-piece American straight edge hardcore/skate punk band from Hughesville, Maryland. They were known for their positive, fast, loud, old school hardcore sound which embraced the DC underground scene. Their raw crunching harmonies, tuneful energy, and aggressive live shows bound them towards inevitable success. Unfortunately due to reasons out of their control, the band shortly broke up in late 2001.
Their self-titled album is currently available through Apple's iTunes music store.

[edit] Biography
If you were to ask Jason Powell, the singer/guitarist of Fury for Another, why the band started, he would say, "We started Fury for Another to have some fun. We would all go to see a show or spend the whole day skating together. Andy had a set of drums in his basement, I had been playing guitar for years, and Sharie had a bass. Playing music together just pretty much became part of what we did as friends."[1]
Before long, playing in the basement was not enough and the band began to write their own original songs and wanted to start playing out. The three piece headed into the studio with their friend, Brain McTernan, at the helm and recorded the 12 tracks that are now their debut CD on Smorgasbord Records. The recording carries the feelings of friendship, harmony, and just plain fun, all with the spirit of classic old school hardcore.
Long time friend and writing mate, Andy Hanbury, was able to rehearse and record the CD but was not able to be around as a permanent drummer. With a new drummer in his seat, Fury for Another was set to improve upon the foundations they had already laid out. Their goals for 2001 were to continue to play out in support of the new CD, write new material, and most importantly stick to their tradition of fun and friendship. Unfortunately, the band itself was forced to break up later in the year.
[edit] Background
Jason Powell describes Fury for Another's history this way: "Fury for Another was my wife, Sharie, on bass, myself on guitar and vocals, and Andy Hanbury on drums. We started off as a basement just for fun kind of band - we'd go skate somewhere and go play Black Flag and Circle Jerks covers in Andy's basement. But later Andy's folks got a divorce and we started doing it a little more serious to take his mind off stuff."
"Jon Hennessee got us on the bill for a benefit show that was going to have Rain On the Parade, Time Flies, For the Living and others, but the show was rescheduled and Andy moved with his mom to California later that month. We went to visit Andy and we booked a couple shows just for fun over there in Paso Robles and outside Oakland. And then when Andy came back over to visit us in Maryland, we recorded over at the DC house on Longfellow Street where Brian had just moved his studio to. Jeff Terranova (who runs Smorgasbord now) was interested in putting it out. We managed to play a couple of shows with Andy (he had moved to Florida and actually traveled up to play) but after a show with Agent Orange got canceled (after he drove up to play) we asked if it would be cool to get another drummer. We played out at various shows following the release of the CD for about a year and a half, and had fun until Andy moved back to Maryland, asked back in, then played one show and then left town and moved away without any notice, so we broke up."[2]
