Furryville

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Furryville is a range of miniature furry animal figures produced by Mattel, launched in 2005.

The types of animal available include dogs, cats, bears, monkeys, skunks, beavers, mice, hippos, ducks, kangaroos and pandas. Figures are available as singles, or as themed families (normally two adults, one boy, one girl) - the family names normally reflect the type of animal - such as 'Pandafords', 'Bearyweathers' and 'Pigsbys'. The heights vary from around 2 inches for the child figures, to about 2.5 inches for the adults.

In 2006, some controversy arose about the launch of a new character - a duck in a nurses uniform, called "Nurse Quacktitioner". Several thousand nurses and their supporters wrote to Mattel complaining about the use of the word "quack", due to its negative associations with medicine[1]. Mattel responded by saying that the word was used simply because the character was a duck, and ducks quack, however the figure has since been withdrawn.
