Furniture Row Companies is a group of specialty home furnishings, mattress and linens stores with headquarters in Denver, Colorado, USA, and stores in 31 states. It operates at least four franchises: Sofa Mart, Oak Express, Denver Mattress, and Bedroom Expressions, the last of which still sells products from an earlier store, Big Sur Waterbeds. Often, multiple stores will be co-located in the same building, where one store is open to the next.
Furniture Row owns and sponsors the #78 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Chevrolet driven by Joe Nemechek and the #87 Denver Mattress Chevrolet driven by Kenny Wallace part time through Furniture Row Racing.
[edit] History
Furniture Row started as Pillow Kingdom in 1974. In 1977 Big Sur Waterbeds opened in Denver. By 1982 they were America's largest waterbed retailer. From 1993 to 1997, additional stores were added. In 1997 the first Furniture Row Shopping Center was opened. Development of this multi-store concept continues with new shopping centers around the nation.
