[edit] G.A.S.P.

The infamous acronym created by Alfonso Lee Gayda of Mather, California. Alfonso is the original creator of idea and the co-producer of the acroynm "G.A.S.P." This acronym was created by the simple high school student of Cordova High School to pass time during class. In his weights class, and idea was spawned. This idea soon molded into what we now know, as G.A.S.P. In all respects, this acronym is as follows: "Get Alfonso Some Pussy."

The Origin

During the month of January of 2005, an idea popped into Alfonso's head. "What's the best way to show that you're a virgin, to show it with enthusiasm, AND embarrass myself in a slight way?" And thus spawned the idea of the G.A.S.P. band.

The Original Idea

The original idea for the G.A.S.P. band was simple:

1. Get ahold of several of the yellow "Livestrong" wristbands that have been circulating.

2. Buy some silver spray paint.

3. Spray the "new" wristbands and distribute them.

The Setback

Despite all of the ideas that were initiated, Alfonso did keep these ideas to himself for a while. He did spark up interest while in weights class, but nothing bold enough to divulge his final idea. Getting several "Livestrong" wristbands was too much of a task for him, so he just let that idea go. Finally, after awhile his plan was labeled as a "discontinued project." Opportunity soon would come into play in the form of a school fundraiser.

The New Idea

With the new month of March on the horizon, Alfonso was still wondering how to get his project underway. News around the school that the school's lacrosse team was selling wristbands that had the school's mascot engraved into it. It was also available two of the three school colors. Curious, he inquired one of the lacrosse players in his first class period. They were pretty much identical to the "Livestrong" wristbands, except engraved in these were the word "Lancer" and on the inside of the band was the website to get it created: ReminderBand.Com. With this in mind, he inquired the internet website and saw the necessities that were needed to create such a product.

The Collaboration

With these things in mind, he quickly turned to his friends for the perfect acronym to be imprinted into the wristbands. The co-producers of the final acronym were as follows: Brandon Redmon, Aaron Allen, Lindsey Grossner, Chris Ragsdale, and Daniel Rangel. Although Daniel is mentioned as a co-producer, he really did nothing to contribute to ideas. He was, in all sense, "just there." Also, Chris Ragsdale did not go to the same school, but did have a part in it's creation. Many acronyms were blurted out in the "brainstorming," such as G.A.L. (Get Alfonso Laid), G.A.P. (Get Alfonso Pussy), and even G.A.T. (Get Alfonso Tail). Sadly, Alfonso thought they were too short for an acronym, and ruled them out. The only one that was worth considering was S.A.T.A.N. (Suck Alfonso Tiny Ass Nuts), and Alfonso ruled it out because it was so "vulgar." Among the first "foundation" names, "G.A.S.P." was mentioned by Aaron - because it really was. It had just the right letters, and was easy to remember and say. So, with the idea in production, he sooned turned to another friend to get the wristbands made.

The Production

Turning to his friend Chris Ragsdale, he asked him to order forty (40) "G.A.S.P." bands at ReminderBand.Com in two colors: pink and glow in the dark. Those two are called "the originals" for they are the first of two sets that were made. The other color group will be mentioned later. Anyways, for the first set of G.A.S.P. bands, the pink ones were designated for girls (for obvious reasons) and the glow in the dark ones were distributed to the boys. Of course, there were priveledges set out to certain people so that they can obtain both colors. When everthing was said and done, the order stood at forty (40) G.A.S.P. bands (20 in each color) for $100.

The Anticipation

After the order was placed, Alfonso quickly spread word to his friends via Myspace. Sending out bulletin after bulletin, he started a chart of who would get what color. It was figured that he would sell each wristband for $3 each, so that he would gain a 20$ profit. Not a big one, but a profit indeed.

The Package Arrives

Finally, the package arrives. It had been sent to Chris' house, and was discovered by Chris as he took a detour from work to see if the package had arrived. After discovering so, he called Alfonso to inform him that after work, he'd stop by and deliver the package. Mid-afternoon, Chris and Alfonso were standing together, anxious to open the box. To their surprise, they had several extras of each color. It appeared that they have added seven (7) in pink, and eight (8) in glow in the dark. After Chris collected both of his colored wristbands, he departed, leaving Alfonso to wallow in happiness as he planned his distribution.

The Distribution

With the plastic bag in hand, he ventured to school the next day. His first sale was to Lori Thornton. Alfonso was just looking to distribute, and despite selling it at the $3 fee, he wasn't looking to collect any money. Many of the people who received both colors didn't pay, and a handful of other people didn't pay either, sending Alfonso into a loss of profit. It was a $45 profit loss, but it didn't matter.

Notable people that received two colored wristbands :: Alfonso Gayda, Chris Ragsdale, Aaron Allen, Brandon Redmon, Lindsey Grossner, Chris Baerresen, Katie Thompson, Lori Thornton, and Amanda Hennis.

The Aftermath

With this project in the works, Alfonso moved onto other projects. Yet, many of his friends had yearned for the limited G.A.S.P. band. So, in retribution to that fact, he made another set of G.A.S.P. bands. This colors for this set were baby blue and silver, and the colors were not gender specific. Distribution of these bands went quick as well, and sold out very quickly. As of today, there are still two G.A.S.P. bands still available, one of each color.

The Final Reason

A quote from the creator, Alfonso: "The reason these "wristbands" were made was to make fun of the fact that I was a virgin. I think currently, there's about 80 supporters, if not more out there. I mean, there was no real point to actual make them, but it just reinforces the fact that when I set my mind to something, I do it. When many people make crazy ideas, they just talk about it and never follow through. That's because they don't have the will power to do it, however crazy it is. So, I try not to be one of those "failures." Sure, the whole thing is about me losing my virginity, but it doesn't mean that it's my top priority. It's a goal, yes, but not a goal where I must do everything in my power to get it accomplished. It's just a goal where I know, someday, I can achieve it. Even if I am gonna be like 40-something.. *Laughs*"

THE RUMOR

It's been rumored that there's a third set of G.A.S.P. bands in the works. The colors have ranged from black to red to even camoflauged in every rumor. It's also been rumored that the new bands will have two different colors in it. Nothing has been confirmed though...
