Another cheese term...first all was with metal term on it, now with the core one, hey ive got one more genre...what about blues core? or Merengue Core? Tecno Marimba Symphonic Metalcore?
Well, if you could present a scene in which a fusion of blues and punk exists (doubtable, as punk is by definition blues-infused anyway), and could show that the term was used by an audience, sure... but you can't. However, punk-funk hybrids most certainly exist. You'll probably notice that unlike other fusion terms like funk metal etc., this article has a fair amount of information on the origins and definition of funkcore. A quick internet search will reveal plenty of bands and fans using the term. Fusion genres exist, and that's it. --Switch 14:06, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

There's tons of overlap with this and the Funk-rock and Funk metal pages, so I put a merger tag. This one is at least well written, but its only source says = "Korn have been labelled emo-funk-core..." That's it, and it sounds fuckin ridiculous. Plus a google of "funkcore" produced basically a quote from Limp Bizkit, a bunch of myspace and Lastfm pages, and the same article from the French, Italian and Danish wikipedias. It's not remotely mentioned on Allmusic either. It seems like some people are enthusiastic about this and doing good work, but it needs some focus.Kgppra17 22:34, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
Yeah. Even though those articles are pretty good, I would agree w/ a merger. But my idea is this: merge this and funk metal into funk rock, and then add a section in funk rock describing funk metal and funkcore as stylistic differences. Thats just my opinion, though.
