can you numb the tounge so all tasts buds a numb ?
Both the lingual nerves (branch of mandibular division of V) (which carry the taste fibers of chorda tempani, branch of VII) need to be anesthetized to numb the taste buds on anterior 2/3rd of the tongue. Quite easily done by using local anesthesia at the appropriate site. Taste buds in other areas of the oral cavity, including the posterior 1/3rd of the tongue are more difficult to anesthetize (Glossopharyngeal nerve).Contemptuous 10:42, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
