Fung Wan Online

Fung Wan Online (FWO) is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game based on the Chinese comic Fung Wan, also known as The Storm Riders. It was developed by Phoenix Games Studio and is currently operated by CiB Net Station. The game is available in a free version and a pay-to-play version. It is available in three languages: English, Mandarin and Malay.

Fung Wan Online offers the player a choice between five character classes known as "Stances".

  • Sword stance have higher AR (Attck Rating) and moderate DR (Defence Rating) in nature. This stance is often seen as a debuffer.
  • Saber stance have almost equal AR and DR and inflicts the highest damage in nature.
  • Bow stance have the highest AR, but it has the lowest defense rating DR in nature. This is the only stance that can perform ranged attacks.
  • Staff stance have the lowest AR, but it has the highest DR in nature. This stance is often seen as a tanker.
  • Unarmed have moderate AR and higher DR in nature. This stance is often seen as a healer due to one of its multiple-target healing.

Mixing of stances determines the strengths or weaknesses of a character.

Each character can choose to raise any of the following five attributes:

  • Strength. Higher strength levels will increase normal attacking damage and weight allowance, and adds more resistance to the Entangle effect.
  • Agility. Higher agility level will result in a DR, higher chances to dodge attacks and adds more resistance to the Slow effect.
  • Constitution. Higher constitution levels will result in more hit points (HP), a higher HP regeneration rate, higher chances to dodge attacks and adds more resistance to the Stun effect.
  • Perception. Higher perception levels will result in a higher AR, higher chances to inflict critical hits and adds more resistance to the Blind effect.
  • Mind. Higher mind level will result in more chi (mana), a higher chances to inflict critical hits, higher chi regeneration rate and adds more resistance to the Confusion effect.

FWO's powers are divided into several elements, consisting of lightning, fire, ice, poison and physical. Powers can be either offensive or defensive. Offensive powers inflict damage and debuffs while defensive powers heals or buffs. There are also powers that can affect more than one player at a time, commonly called area of effect powers in the game. Some powers must be obtained through high level quests and are called Legendary Powers (LP). All powers require a sufficient amount of chi to perform.

Skills allow the player to perform certain special actions. A skill can have a maximum rank of 100 and some require chi to be activated. The following skills are in the game:

  • Brew Medicine. This skill enables player to brew medicine for healing or buffing purposes.
  • Forge Weapon. This skill enables a player to repair their weapon and forge gemstones into their weapon to enhance damage or to add other effects.
  • Detect Hidden. This skill enables player to detect hidden monsters or players.
  • Prowl. This skill enables player to be invisible. While it is activated, the player cannot attack and can only walk.
  • Evaluate. This skills enables player to obtain information of monsters or players. The gathered information includes level, AR, DR, resistances, powers, etc.
  • Identify Item. This skill enables players to identify items obtained from monsters. Identified items can be sold at a higher price to shops. Before equipment can be used, it needs to be identified.
  • Pickpocket. This skills enable a player to steal items from other players or NPCs. When a player successfully pickpockets another player, the pickpocket will be marked as a criminal and any player can kill that player without penalty.
  • Resuscitate. This skill can revive fallen players within a certain time limit. After this time limit, the dead player cannot be revived and will lose experience points and gold upon respawning.
  • Sprinting. This skills enables player to run faster.
  • Craft Jewelry. This skill enables player to craft jewellery such as rings and amulets.
  • Craft Wearable. This skill enables player to craft and repair wearable items such as bracers and greaves.
  • Taunt. This skill enables players to aggravate monsters and make them attack players.
  • Guard. When a player uses this skill on another unit, he will receive partial damage from what the unit is receiving and thus reduce the taken damage of that unit.

There are five clans in the game that can be controlled by players. One clan can only have 1 clan leader, 10 clan ministers, 20 clan masters, 165 clan seniors and 5,302 clan members. Players holding a higher rank will receive more benefits depends on the nature of the clan and relics and towns that the clan possess. Members and seniors can receive additional minister buffs and/or leader buffs if the minister or leader is standing beside them.


  • Sword Worship Clan (SWC). The element of this clan is Fire. The clan relic is the Dark Coal.
  • Supreme Sword Clan (SSC). The element of this clan is Ice. The clan relic is the Xuan Sword.
  • King of Heroes Clan (KOH). The element of this clan is Physical. The clan relic is The Iceberg.
  • Swift Meaning Clan (SMC). The element of this clan is Lightning. The clan relic is the Swift Meaning Scripture.
  • 'Matchless Clan (MXC). The element of this clan is Poison. The clan relic is the Matchless Sword.

Clan can form alliances with other clans and participate in war. Each clan also has a relic which is kept in its own clan stronghold in their respective map (zones). Obtaining a relic of opposing clan is not easy and it requires teamwork and is usually done through war. Owning relics will enable all members and officers in the clan to enjoy special relic-specific buffs.
