This seems a bit bluntly put, from a literary view point. However, it contained the information I was looking for, so thanks!

The article linked contained, among the other unconfirmed ideas and allegations, the following:
"The pursuit of money became an all-consuming passion. He very rarely performed favors for his sightless colleagues without extracting some form of payment in return.
As he grew, his reputation grew with him. He became known as a person who would do anything to gain notoriety and affluence." - all this about Shoko Asahara. I don't know where this enlightening inside info came from, but it contradicts with testimonies and evidence from those who knew him in persona, including 'top followers' who later left the cult and 'reconsidered'. It is clear what the author thought about his subject, but what about the sources?.. Removed.
