I wish this article could be better. I'm trying to assume good faith, but I'm not so confident in some people working on the page. I'm not saying that they're trying to hurt the article, but I'm more inclined to believe that some of the editors are some what inexperienced or only work on this particular article. --myselfalso 17:39, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
True Dat myselfalso. As to 1080, it isn't going anywhere until I get the manual for it, which I am lost with.--Clyde (talk) 19:06, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for the barnstar. It was a nice way to start an evening on Wikipedia. By the way, I found an even crazier talk page for an unreleased game: Godzilla: Unleashed. It got so bad they had to completely protect the article. It's so out of hand it's almost comical.--Clyde (talk) 17:42, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: PNG to SVG

It would, in theory, be more efficient in the SVG format, so yes, it should be. However, even a PNG that was of slightly higher quality (the current one isn't) would suffice. Converting it would not be easy, though, because it contains a complex spectrum in the letters themselves. Alex43223 T | C | E 23:25, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

I assume it's for Captain Falcon? Well, I'd be happy to do it, but apart from that, I know that Clyde Miller (talk · contribs) and AndonicO (talk · contribs) are good (they helped me with Age of Mythology). Ask at WP:VG to get some other people. Giggy UCP 22:32, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Captain Falcon

Copy edited as requested. A couple of points to note:

  • I haven't referred specifically to the Link article, as that (IMO) falls a long way short of FA status - see Talk:Link (The Legend of Zelda) for my opinions on that
  • I don't know much about these games, so it would be worth having an expert check over my edits to make sure I haven't inadvertently added any errors anywhere
  • There were some sections that I think need more work. I've added comments to those sections, and to the talk page

I think once my comments have been addressed, the article will probably be a worthy GAC. If you decide to nominate for GAC and want me to copyedit again, just let me know --carelesshx talk 00:33, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

"Even by video game article standards, this source is inadequate - is there a link to a manual or official nintendo source available?" I know of a better source but I wasn't too sure about adding it so I went here. That site also is the only official source that has his full name. I have his whole profile so should I add all of it be in the "quote" parameter? FMF 15:54, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Ick... that's a tricky one. The reason I added that comment was that I though an unofficial guide to a completely different game was perhaps not the best source, particularly as I thought there would be an official source elsewhere. I've had a look for myself, and I haven't been able to find anything either. I guess, under the circumstances, it's better than no source at all. Maybe replace my comment with something along the lines of 'please replace this with a better source if one can be found'? --carelesshx talk 17:31, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hmmm.....

You know I'll be honest I don't exactly remember (it's been so long) but I believe I intended to pass it as a good article. On further inspection I noticed some problems, so I corrected them. I think I did enough in my mind that I was a contributor and not a reviewer, so I decided not to pass it. I kept an eye on it after that, which is how I got involved. I think that was it, but I'm not sure. I've noticed you're continued improvements, they've kept it to very high standards. Good job.--Clyde (talk) 20:33, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

What? Of course I do. I own GX, X, and I've played AX. Great games. On GX I usually play Draq and Pico, as well as a custom character that's CAC.--Clyde (talk) 20:21, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
Sorry I haven't gotten back to you; I haven't been very active lately. I'm not much of a copyeditor, and little of my work alone has garnered the sought after bronze star. If I get a chance, I'll do what I can though.--Clyde (talk) 22:40, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Done.

Glad Giggy finally came to his senses. ;) By the way, he's here now. Anyway, I've finished the copyediting, and removed the tags. Just wanted to ask you though, in this sentence, did you really mean "above", or was that a mistake?: "An anti-gravity unit, known as the "G-Diffuser System", allows them to drive at high speeds, while retaining a hold of the magnetic track, located from a few inches to a foot above it." · AndonicO Talk 21:03, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Hehe, instant bookmark. ;) Our page on Dihydrogen monoxide says the US Navy has secret deposits of DHMO too. ;) · AndonicO Talk 21:09, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
I don't understand what you mean by "too similar to the original". If you're asking me if the story is incorrect, I'm not sure, because I don't own the game. (Is that what you meant, or am I on a completely different planet?) · AndonicO Talk 17:11, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Show/Hide

In the days before the great standardization of VG boxes and the many wars that followed, which ultimately lead to AMIB leaving, people went crazy with navboxes. The show hide function can be bad if there are several show hide navboxes stacked on each other. It creates problems in certain browsers. We are heading down the road again where we bloat navboxes, then show/hide them, then they screw up the page. If it is so bloated it needs to be hidden, how practical is it?--Clyde (talk) 22:27, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

You saw the battles and the climatic decisive end of the second navbox war, but much came to pass before then, predating even my contributions here.--Clyde (talk) 01:05, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
Come to think of it, it could be AMIB erasing the final representations of his work or something...eh that's crazy.--Clyde (talk) 01:11, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

No I actually have it for the N64. You?--Clyde (talk) 21:30, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
No sorry I don't have the manual. I bought the cartridge used at Gamestop many years ago. It didn't have the manual. In fact, I haven't been able to get what I was looking for 1080 off of ReplacementDocs. I wish there was a better place to go...--Clyde (talk) 22:18, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] FL Main page proposal

You either nominated a WP:FLC or closed such a nomination this year. As such, you are the type of editor whose opinion I am soliciting. We now have over 400 featured lists and seem to be promoting in excess of 30 per month of late (41 in August and 42 in September). When Today's featured article (TFA) started (2004-02-22), they only had about 200 featured articles and were barely promoting 20 new ones per month. I think the quality of featured lists is at least as good as the quality of featured articles was when they started appearing on the main page. Thus, I am ready to open debate on a proposal to institute a List of the Day on the main page with nominations starting November 1, 2007, voting starting December 1, 2007 and main page appearances starting January 1, 2008. For brevity, the proposal page does not discuss the details of eventual main page content, but since the work has already been done, you should consider this proposal assuming the eventual main page will resemble either an excerpted list format or an abbreviated text format. The proposal page does not debate whether starting with weekly list main page entries would be better than daily entries. However, I suspect persons in favor of weekly lists are really voicing opinions against lists on the main page since neither TFA nor Picture of the day started as weekly endeavors, to the best of my knowledge. Right now debate seems to be among support for the current selective democratic/consensus based proposal, a selective dictatorial approach like that used at WP:TFA or a non-selective first in line/calendar approach like that used at WP:POTD. See the List of the Day proposal and comment at WP:LOTDP and its talk page.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 18:49, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sales

Since I searched a lot for worldwide sales while writing an article - which I tried to somewhat mirror on your F-Zero GX work and bring it to FA without reaching a huge size; failed, got to restart someday - , I found the old version of that page, with NA sales (until 30\01\2004), and a rank of best-selling Australian games (but GX is only at 43, don't know if it's worthy). There's a newer US list, but I haven't found outside of a forum yet.

[edit] Featured List of the Day Experiment

There have been a series of proposals to initiate a Featured List of the Day on the main page. Numerous proposals have been put forth. After the third one failed, I audited all WP:FL's in order to begin an experiment in my own user space that will hopefully get it going. Today, it commences at WP:LOTD. Afterwards I created my experimental page, a new proposal was set forth to do a featured list that is strikingly similar to my own which is to do a user page experimental featured list, but no format has been confirmed and mechanism set in place. I continue to be willing to do the experiment myself and with this posting it commences. Please submit any list that you would like to have considered for list of the day in the month of January 2008 by the end of this month to WP:LOTD and its subpages. You may submit multiple lists for consideration.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:LOTD) 01:52, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Navbox styling

I noticed that you reverted Template:Production I.G to the standard style format[1] with the edit summary "Styles are not recommended, only use colors if they are necessary". In the past when creating navboxes I've tried to style them to fit with the topic they describe - based on my experience of seeing others such as Template:Matrix, Template:Botany, etc. Is this generally discouraged? I'm not sure if non-standard colours would ever be neccessary (at least in terms of functionality) but don't they may help add to the character and design of an article? Any chance you could point me to the appropriate style guideline that deals with the issue so that I can work with it in mind in the future? Regards, Guest9999 (talk) 00:57, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Do not remember...

Well, that is mostly because topics may be interesting for the users of a language, but not for the users of others. Or they may have different standards (like requiring shorter articles) or focus on different things (some languages may have decided to focus in a few points, while others may have decided to focus in a lot of points, making it harder to get it to featured). For example, the article about France is considered featured in Cebuano and Esperanto. I haven't really checked a lot, but the article about Che Guevara is featured in 8 languages, including English. -- ReyBrujo (talk) 01:21, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

If you copy the contents of a featured article in a language to another language, I would say the target article would become much better. I am not sure if enough to be a FA, because you would need to check the wiki featured criteria. Otherwise, people would just translate the featured article of a language to all the others. I think this is what makes every language version unique, and as important as the others regardless of the number of articles they may have. -- ReyBrujo (talk) 02:09, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
You mean, helping translate featured articles from English to another language? Or supporting the translated versions to become featured? -- ReyBrujo (talk) 01:07, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Oh. Well, I could help translating to Spanish, but I am not that interested in doing that (or any other major editing) right now. I just clean up a few things here and there, and keep sales list up to date if possible. Maybe in the future, but right now I just don't have the motivation to do that. As for the image, we will have to wait a week, since the previous images were all valid under our fair use claim and therefore cannot be speedied. -- ReyBrujo (talk) 01:19, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Removing images from tabulated lists

Hi, I have read the rationale for your edit to List of Star Trek characters: A-F. I find it disappointing, as I had accepted the merger of various pages to such lists on the basis that the essential info about the character, including the photo, would be retained in the list. However, your arguments seem watertight on policy grounds, so I have to wince and let the images go. Unlike other lists, at least the Star Trek character list has links to Memory Alpha, so a photo is still only a click away.

Now, if you (we) have to remove the non-free images, and there can never be free images, then the image column is never going to be used. Therefore you might as well remove the column altogether from the table while you are removing the images. I've proposed this at WikiProject Star Trek. Please either wait a few days before doing the same to the other lists, or go ahead and remove the image column from the tables as well as its content. - Fayenatic (talk) 08:40, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

    * Daiki Kashō
Representative works: Responsible for the theme music etc. for countless race games including the "GranTurismo" series
Released an original album "energy motion / daiki"
Currently producing composing and arranging for overseas artists
    Primary genre: Rock in general.
    * Hidenori Shōji (Sega)
Representative works: "Fighting Vipers 2", "DAYTONA USA 2", "Slashout", "Spikers Battle", "Super Monkey Ball" series, etc., responsible for a wide variety irrespective of genre.
Primary genre: Rock in general, techno.

C.f. 'the soundtrack to the movie "Jaws"', 'the flag in the background to this picture of President Bush'. For/of/to, all seems OK to me.
  4. http://sega.jp/segamoba/news/nr_040721.html (the introductory paragraphs and under the CD cover image to the right of 'Specifications')
This is a very old page (July 2004) announcing a prize draw of a T-shirt and soundtrack CD. To enter you had to join Sega's mobile-phone web site and collect 30 points by 28 July 2004.
The text under the CD is:

    Catalogue No.: SCDC-00358/359
Release Date: 22 July 2004 (Thursday)

  5. http://www.ai-mark.com/ (In 'Song', fourth row. What exactly is this chart?)
This is a list of singles release by AiM aka Ai Maeda (前田愛). The line says "3 Dec 2003, Title: Resolition / Forever, Name of Work: Ending theme from 'F-ZERO Falcon Legend'". Amazon.co.jp shows the title as Resolution, suggesting the orthography on this page is incorrect.
