[edit] Failed good article nomination

GA review – see WP:WIAGA for criteria

Excellent start, but currently underdeveloped as a GA candidate.Good article

  1. Is it reasonably well written?
    A. Prose quality:
The lede is somewhat brief, the language is abrupt and staccato in places, which is not helped by the stub sections. Try reworking short sentences into longer, flowing prose.
    B. MoS compliance:
  2. Is it factually accurate and verifiable?
    A. References to sources:
Reliance on two sources only is undesirable - it indicates that there may be more information out there than you are including here
    B. Citation of reliable sources where necessary:
Claims are scrupulously cited, good work.
    C. No original research:
The graph and averages are acceptable syntheses of sourced information
  3. Is it broad in its coverage?
    A. Major aspects:
More context is needed on York City's initial plans. The article just states that land was bought in a specific area for a specific price. Why that area? What were the requirements of the club? Who was involved in the decision? Furthermore, the Structures, Other uses and Transport sections are little more than stubs and need to be expanded to a good 6+ lines or merged into larger sections.
    B. Focused:
  4. Is it neutral?
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. Is it stable?
    No edit wars, etc:
  6. Does it contain images to illustrate the topic?
    A. Images are copyright tagged, and non-free images have fair use rationales:
    B. Images are provided where possible and appropriate, with suitable captions:
No images of the ground or even of the area; this should not be too difficult a task.
  7. Overall:
    Pass or Fail:
In its current state, this article fails GA criteria. It needs expansion of stub sections, the addition of appropriate images and a broader selection of references. Great work so far, and feel free to re-nominate the article once you have addressed the issues. скоморохъ 21:52, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Expanding the article would be considerably difficult as I have pretty much squeezed out everything mentioned in the YCFC book. Looking at the sources found by User:Harkey Lodger, it seems as if no new content is included, and the first of these appears to be a direct copy from the book. Getting an image of the ground would be quite impossible, as it was demolished around 75 years ago, but I do have the coordinates to the area and could try and get a caption of the current land. Thanks for the review, Mattythewhite (talk) 08:15, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
I was thinking of an old, even copyrighted image; a case could be made for fair use under the circumstances. скоморохъ 08:23, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Only image I can find is this. Mattythewhite (talk) 08:25, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Is there nothing in York City: A Complete Record 1922-1990 that could be scanned? скоморохъ 08:27, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Nope, no image of the ground included. Mattythewhite (talk) 13:51, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
