Fukaura, Aomori

Fukaura (深浦町; -machi) is a town located in Nishitsugaru District, Aomori, Japan.
As of 2003, the town has an estimated population of 8,450 and a density of 26.81 persons per km². The total area is 315.20 km².
On March 31, 2005 the village of Iwasaki was merged with the old town of Fukaura to form the new town of Fukaura.
It is the home town of four current sumo wrestlers: Kaiho, Aminishiki, Asofuji and Masatsukasa. It is believed to be the first time that four elite sekitori ranked wrestlers have come from the same town.
