Fužine

Fužine is a municipality in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar county in western Croatia. Fužine is a town in Gorski Kotar and it was founded on Karolina road. Fužine got its name from blacksmiths, because there were lot of blacksmiths in Fužine that were fixing carriages. With the coming of the railroad, people began to inhabit Fužine. There are three large lakes (Bajer and Lepenica) and one small lake (Potkoš) in Fužine.

All the lakes are used for making electricity. There is also a cave in Fužine that is called Vrelo. The town is actually surrounded by big mountains. There are a lot of famous people from Fužine like Krešo Golik (famous Croatian movie maker) and Franjo Rački (historian). Near Fužine there are small villages like Vrata, Lič, Belo Selo, Slavica and Fužinski Benkovac. Fužine is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Croatia.
