Low resolution?	It is a low-resolution image.
Purpose of use	To illustrate an important scene in the game. Also, to illustrate one of the number of monochromatic cutscenes used in-game to illustrate flashbacks and provide backstory.
Replaceable?	As a screenshot of a copyrighted game, it is inherently impossible to reliably replace it with a different, independently-made version. As far as this user knows, screenshots from Nintendo games are not freely-licensed, and it would be impractical to try convincing them to license the screenshots.
