[edit] Llantrisant
Hi, I noticed you made some edits to the Llantrisant article. Do you know the place well? I'm from Llantrisant myself, but I live in Finland now. Hwyl. Alun 06:06, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
Sort of. I'm a Rhondda boy by birth, but now live in Llanharran. Not much to write about Llanharran so I thought I would add some info to the Llantrisant page. I'm a real newby, so just pottering really in a non-vandalistic way. Happy to be corrected by anyone, just trying to increase the knowledge and start debate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by FruitMonkey (talk • contribs)

[edit] Notability of Beddau RFC
A tag has been placed on Beddau RFC, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. WebHamster 11:44, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Rugby union in Wales
Thanks for the message.
It's a univereal problem on Wikipedia that there aren't enough people prepared to do the work though plenty who will criticise the end result.
I set up most of the Rugby union in X articles by taking content from other pages and putting it in the one main article with the hope that somebody from x would take an interest and develop the article. This largely hasn't happened. I don't think that this is particular to Wales or rugby union, Cricket in England was set up by me and hasn't progressed either (and many other examples).
The one article that I have done myself is Rugby league in England which I got to "good status" but almost all the edits were mine. I think if you wanted to get Rugby union in Wales to the same level then the likelyhood is that most edits would be yours.
You don't really need any reference books to make such an article. You can usually find enough online references using google. I've also recently found that if you put a section of the article onto a sports forum and invite improvements then people will make suggestions which you can incorporate.GordyB 09:42, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Penarth RFC
19 Feb 2008 - Hi I am new to Wikipedia and have just done some expansion of the Penarth RFC page. Is there any chance you could compile one of your excellent little kit diagrams and insert it on the page for me. There are photos on the teams official website. Royal blue shirts with white shoulders, black shorts and socks in black and royal blue hoops. Many thanks 21stCenturyGreenstuff (talk) 15:39, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Lovely job, exactly what I was after...and a nice paragraph tidy up too. I must learn how to do that myself. Thanks21stCenturyGreenstuff (talk) 23:37, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] The Pontypool Front Row
You seem to be a rugby expert. Could you take a look at The Pontypool Front Row please. It is in a backlog of new articles to be patrolled, and I don't know if it should be deleted, expanded or merged. Bobby Windsor links to it and it is mentioned in Pontypool RFC. [edit] Speedy deletion of Bryncoch RFC
Stifle,
You recently deleted my page Bryncoch RFC, I'm presuming notability as this is the main hit I used to get nailed with. Could you revert this as I am creating the entire Welsh rugby league, mainly as informed stubs, with the hope that others will contribute. I struggled hard in my early days to get this up and running, but have now created over 100 clubs, most of them with over a hundred years of history, but with a distinct non-geek/tech following making follow up contribs slow. To see how far I have come please check: List of Welsh rugby union clubs by division, which before I started held only about 20 clubs. This is a serious long term project which I have spent hundreds of man hours building. It has notability, it's just buried in time and needs effort to create. Thanks,FruitMonkey (talk) 21:48, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
- While I'm happy to answer questions, it looks like your question could have been answered and resolved more quickly if you had used my message wizard. It's linked as "Talk" after my name and at the top of my talk page. Why not try it next time?
- I notice that you referred to an article as belonging to you. Please be aware that nobody owns any articles on Wikipedia.
- Bryncoch RFC was deleted under criterion 7 (under Articles) of our criteria for speedy deletion because it appeared to be an article about a club which didn't indicate why it was important or significant. Please see WP:ORG for details of what might show notability. If you think that these criteria are met, please explain which one and provide citations from reliable sources to back up your claim, and I will consider undeleting it.
- You may alternatively file a deletion review request. Stifle (talk) 08:45, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks for the response, but...
Thanks for the response on my talk page, but please take care not to zap all the threads beneath yours when editing. The fact that you "fly drunk" as you said there concerns me a bit. Generally, don't drink and Wiki. Not a good thing. As for A7's, if you have issue with those in general, you might want to start discussion on that in the proper venue. You might want to start with Wikipedia talk:Criteria for speedy deletion. SchuminWeb (Talk) 00:24, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] License tagging for Image:Beaupre Castle - Inner.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Beaupre Castle - Inner.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 23:11, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
