The church describes its viewpoint as "belief in everything that is real."[citation needed] The organization's website is its primary front to the outside world, and much of its practice goes through said website.

[edit] Founding tenets
Working from the precept that no one knows all of reality, the Church of Reality seeks to understand reality the way it really is. It asks that its members commit to being intellectually honest with themselves and with others so they can cut through the mythology and focus on reality.[citation needed]
The church began with an idea the founder, Marc Perkel, had on November 7, 1998. He then registered a domain name and set to work building the church over the next few years.[citation needed]
[edit] Notability
Marc Perkel was interviewed by Mike Malloy on Air America Radio.[1]
[edit] Legalities
The church is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt not for profit organization recognized by the IRS. The IRS approval process took almost 2 years to complete after first being submitted on November 6, 2003. The Church of Reality's not for profit status was approved on October 20, 2005.[2]
The term "Church of Reality" is also a trademark of the church. The trademark was filed on October 31, 2003 and granted on January 18, 2005.[citation needed]
