About Jim Frommeyer

Jim Frommeyer lived on the 57th floor of the East Tower (in picture's foreground) from 1976 to 1978, prior to marrying Donna-Marie in 1979.

• I'm Jim Frommeyer and I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1953 and spent 15 years growing up in Wilmette, Illinois (1963-1975). After graduating from the University of Detroit in 1975, I moved into a studio apartment on the 57th floor of the 61-story tall Marina Towers in Chicago, Illinois during my bachelor days. I'll jump ahead to the present. Since 2001, I have lived and worked from our "vacation & retirement" home in Harvard, Illinois, which is a small rural community located about 75 miles northwest of Chicago and 5 miles south of the Illinois-Wisconsin state boarder.
  • FYI - From 1998-2001, I had a combination office/apartment in The Loop (Chicago's CBD or central business district) in the 200 North Dearborn Street Building, which was located on the south side of the Chicago River directly across from Marina Towers. Each of the apartments that I lived in had its own private balcony and each had great views!

• For what's now been almost 30 fast and fantastic years, I've been more than happily married to the world's sexiest woman, Donna-Marie Frommeyer (maiden name Barbaro), since May 1979 when we took our vows in Chicago. Illinois (where we still have our primary residential home, located in the Gage Park neighborhood inside of the 14th Ward (map) of the City of Chicago, since August 1994). We consider ourselves to be devout and practicing Roman Catholics. We have four (4) children (oldest to youngest: Caroline, Jim, Peter and Mary Kate), whom we have been homeschooling (1st thru 12th grades) since August 1994. Our two oldest are now in college.

• I became hooked on personal computers in August 1983 when, for business reasons, I purchased the very affordable Commodore 64 (came on market in August 1982) for word processing purposes.
  • First went online in the mid 1980s as the BBS was becoming more popular.
  • For business purposes, started using the internet in the fall of 1994.
  • With some grave hesitation, began teaching our kids how to surf the net in the fall of 1997, but only with & under our direct parental supervision.
  • Started playing around with web sites and online SQL and MySQL databases in the mid to late 1990s for both business and personal purposes.

• After years of watching, using and recommending Wikipedia to others (including our children), I joined the Wiki community on February 24, 2007 and made my first contribution.
  • Since I am a phonetic speller, I highly suspect that I'll have to blackmail each one of the heirs to my estate (my wife and kids) into serving as my proof readers as well as my assistant editors for the articles that I create for Wikipedia.
