Talk:Frostburn (Regional Burn)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The following comment is IRT the following concern (suggestion for deletion): Non-notable event. This event has taken place only once, its return is not certain, and no sources of any kind have been cited to prove its notability or even its existence, aside from the "official web site." This may be notable after another annual event, but not yet.
This event is notable today because it helps to document the social movement of the Ten Principles of Burning Man. I have added a link to photos from the event to help ascertain its existence. As more information becomes available, I will attempt to improve the article with additional references. Although nothing in the future is certain, the event's return is quite likely because Burning Man's official regional contact (Clifford Reese) was involved with the inaugural event and fully intends to repeat it in years to come. This article provides valid, neutral, objective information about a real event, and its inclusion should cause no harm to Wikipedia, its contributors or users.Noise (www.rowdydow.com) (talk) 02:49, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
- The event is NOT notable. Its affiliation with Burning Man does not automatically confer notability. A one-time event with 100 people in attendance, with no supporting reliable sources (sorry, your Flickr gallery doesn't count), is not notable by Wikipedia standards. In checking the list of other regional Burn events, I suspect that most of them aren't notable, either. As for inclusion causing no harm, cluttering WP with articles about trivial, non-notable subjects does cause harm. It reduces Wikipedia's credibility to the rest of the world. I will nominate this for AfD, along with most other regional Burn articles. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 03:48, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
- OK, see AfD then. - Wiki4noise (talk) 05:46, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
