A variation of the Froot Loops cereal was manufactured starting in 1998 called Marshmallow-Blasted Froot Loops. This cereal was Froot Loops with marshmallows added. New marshmallows were introduced usually every year. It started out with Toucan Sam marshmallows, followed by frogs, then number 2's (to celebrate the year 2000), then mummies, and finally sharks and piranhas. The commercials followed a story of Toucan Sam traveling through a marshmallow temple. The cereal was discontinued in 2005. Marshmallow-Blasted Froot Loops were not marketed in Australia to comply with local dietary requirements for products marketed to children. The most recent variation of Froot Loops is called Froot Loops Darkberries.
