From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Frontiers, hosted by Worcester Polytechnic Institute of Worcester, Massachusetts is a two-week research and learning experience geared toward students preparing to enter college.[1] The program challenges students to explore the limits of knowledge in science, mathematics and engineering. WPI has sponsored Frontiers since 1982.[2]

The academic program is distinguished by its focus on current laboratory techniques and unsolved problems in the areas of aerospace engineering, biology and biotechnology, chemistry, computer science, electrical and computer engineering, interactive media and game development, mathematics, mechanical engineering, physics and robotics.[3]

Participants may engage in one of six communication modules: American history through film and the Internet, creative writing, elements of writing, music, speech and theatre.[4] The program is led in cooperation between WPI's Admissions department and Student Life Office.
