Hi, "peacock terms" are words that are unnecessarily flowery or unencyclopedic. For example, a "fine" mane and a "beautiful" tail. I have an interest in another breed that also has a "fine mane and beautiful tail," but for wikipedia, we use descriptive, neutral terms like "long mane and tail." If you want to say "fluid, square and elegant" gaits, then to avoid the peacock label, do what you did in your comment to me, put it in quotes, say it's the registry standard and then footnote it as official from the registry, linked to the exact page in the registry web site that says those very words so we can verify it. For example, if I had XYZ breed of horses, I'd say something like: According to the XYZ registry, XYZ horses "...have a brilliant purple coat with flashing orange manes and tails that glow in the presence of florescent lighting"<no wiki>^[1]</nowiki> Get the idea? (grin)

If the FPS studbook has a lot of different subdivisions and is complex, then maybe the article needs a separate section to explain the different levels of registration. As it sits, the term "studbook" and "breed registry" are usually used interchangably by most registries, so if the Friesians have different levels and only approve some horses as breeding stock, that's common in Europe, but unusual in the USA and worth mentioning.
