[edit] Terminology

Should "Dutch" be preferred, as an adjective for "Holland", to "Hollandic"? And, is there any reference to the term Friso-Hollandic or Frisian-Hollandic Wars in the English literature? Srnec 17:14, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

No, it should not. Holland in this (as in any) sense does not refer to the Netherlands, or Dutch, but as belonging to the county of Holland. As for friso-hollandic I believe I encountered the term in the history of the low countries, I happen to have both versions, Dutch and English, and I believe this was the term used.

The term Friso-Hollandic looks so unusual it might be best if it were referenced. I know that Holland never refers to the Netherlands in their entirety, but does not Dutch refer specifically to Holland and its ancient language? Srnec 17:26, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
Forget it. I just read up on it. Srnec 17:27, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
