Fritz Rosen

Fritz Rosen was a German Orientalist, son of Georg Rosen, consul at the German embassy in Beirut in the late 19th century, at the time capital of the vilayet of Syria. He was conversant in Arabic and Persian, and had an intimate knowledge of Persian culture. In 1899, he accompanied Gertrude Bell on her visit to Jerusalem.
