[edit] Band History
The band was formed in mid-2002 by Neil Smith (also of Lord Gore and Blood Freak), and they immediately started writing and recording material for their debut album Midnight Murder Mania, which was released in late 2003 on Razorback Records. The band was then put on hold for a few years while the members concentrated on other musical projects, but they reformed in early 2005 to write and record their second album, Bringing Back the Bloodshed. This album was also released on Razorback Records in 2006.
[edit] Lyrical Influences
The band's lyrics are influenced by Neil Smith's obsession with 1970s/1980s slasher films, such as The Burning, Friday the 13th, Maniac and Slumber Party Massacre. The band has used samples from such films, or their trailers, as intros for their songs. The band name itself is taken from the title of the 1974 film Frightmare, at the suggestion of Billy Nocera from Razorback Records.[1]
