Friedrich Amelung

Friedrich Ludwig Balthasar Amelung (23 March 1842 – 21 March 1909) was an Estonian chess player, endgame composer, and journalist of Baltic German origin.
Amelung was born at Võisiku (Woiseck) manor near Viljandi, Livonia. He played a few games with Adolf Anderssen, Neumann, Mayet, Schallopp, Ascharin, Emanuel Schiffers. He published about 230 endgame studies. He died in Riga.
