Friedland is a town in the district Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. It is a local center for some villages like Kotelow, Luebbersdorf, Schwichtenberg, Dahle and Boldekow, and has approximately 8500 citizens.
It was founded in 1244 by the Kurfürsten Otto and Johann of Brandenburg, then having the name Vredeland.
