[edit] Wikipedia_talk:Censorship
A watered-down version of the proposed policy against censorship is now open for voting. Will you kindly review the policy and make your opinions known? Thank you very much. Loom91 13:12, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
- I will like to clear any wrong ideas you may have about this policy. You seem to be concerned that the policy would stop the specified things to be done for reasons unrelated to censorship such as NPOV, verifiability etc. The policy explicitly states that the only using decency or offensiveness as an editorial reason is prohibited as it is subjective and culturally rlative. Other concerns such as NPOV are perfectly valid reasons. Please consider reviewing your stand in this light. Feel free to contact me for any further clarifications. Thank you. [edit] Tagging AFD is not a minor edit
When tagging articles with {{subst:afd}}, please don't mark it as a minor edit and please put "AFD" or similar in the edit summary. Thanks! Stifle (talk) 16:34, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, that would be because of "mark all edits minor by default." Maybe I should change that, maybe not.--Frenchman113 on wheels! 15:24, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Disposable email
I had to remove your speedy deletion tag from this article. Speedy deletion is only valid for an enumerated set of reasons, listed at Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion. While the page is indeed an advertisment, this is not a reason for speedy deletion.
I will list this article for afd, as the {{prod}} tag has been removed. (In the future, when you add a speedy tag to an article marked {{prod}}, you shouldn't remove the prod tag, because if the speedy deletion fails, the prod tag can still remain for its 5-day countdown. The same is true about AfD tags; don't remove them when adding speedy tags, either. lowercase 22:53, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Translation request
Hello, if you can translate the following title into English, please add it to the 2nd paragraph of Magdeburg Centuries:
- Ecclesiastica Historia, integram Ecclesiae Christi ideam, quantum ad Locum, Propagationem, Persecutionem, Tranquillitatem, Doctrinam, Hæreses, Ceremonias, Gubernationem, Schismata, Synodos, Personas, Miracula, Martyria, Religiones extra Ecclesiam, & statum Imperii politicum attinet, secundum singulas Centurias, perspicuo ordine complectens: singulari diligentia & fide ex vetustissimis & optimis historicis, patribus, & aliis scriptoribus congesta.
Thanks. --BRIAN0918 22:07, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
It reads much better now: I agree with your parsing, and I can't believe I flubbed secundum singulas centurias so badly. Apologies if I trod on your toes there – I didn't realise Brian had already asked someone else about translating that. I've altered a couple of minor stylistic issues, which you are naturally welcome to revert if you disagree.
There's one thing I'd like to query, though:
- Translating idea as "idea". I avoided it because I wasn't sure how closely the usage mapped onto the modern English usage; in the medieval Christian texts I'm familiar with, I've always understood the Latin usage as being roughly synonymous with forma (i.e. ’ιδεα), but perhaps by the 16th century it's closer to English "idea"?
Any thoughts? — Haeleth Talk 20:57, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I'm more familiar with classical latin, so the meaning of "idea" confused me (it's not a classical word). If you think that it should be translated as form or shape, you're more qualified than I am. And also, I'm glad that you put up a translation before I did, as it was very helpful to me.--Frenchman113 on wheels! 21:13, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] NAZI!
Just kidding, but you might want to reconsider that, as a lot of people take offense to it. Moreover, it's generally frowned upon to have images in your signature.--Frenchman113 on wheels! 18:48, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
- I appreciate your concern, but if anyone wishes to take offence over a symbol that hasn't been used in a negative context for over 60 years, except by some odd people no-one really takes serious, then let them. I'd be more then willing to explain the positive meanings of the Swastika to them, if they willing to listen. If not, they'll be closer to Nazis then me.
- They're not images, by the way. They're Chinese characters. Simple unicode text ^^

[edit] Lamalo
Hi Frenchman, I wanted to give you a heads-up that this article, which you nominated for WP:PROD, was de-prodded by the original contributor. I have nominated it at AfD, here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lamalo. Regards, Accurizer 03:20, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your VandalProof Application
Dear Frenchman113,
Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that at this time you do not meet the minimum requirement of 250 edits to mainspace articles (see under main here). Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. - Glen 20:38, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- Hahaha. You realize that if I cared, I'd download it and then crack it? I think Avillia had the right idea, personally.--Frenchman113 on wheels! 20:41, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- What do you mean crack it? No password or verification code is requested. — [Mac Davis] (talk) (Desk|Help me improve)
- But it uses DRM to check you against a list of users. Any competent hacker/cracker can defeat that in seconds, fortunately, I don't care.--Frenchman113 on wheels! 19:13, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Naruto AfD
So, you tell me I'm a fanboy and merely attempting to vote stack, and then ask me to reconsider my vote? My friend, accusations do not make one want to reexamine his views. And, for the record, I've never seen Naruto in my life, and I despise anime, so I'm not sure where the fanboyism comes in. -- Kicking222 09:07, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] with the Naruto episodes
I just want to say I'm against their deletion. I wrote ten episode articles for Naruto for the purpose of those who don't and/or can't watch Naruto know exactly what's going on. I didn't post any episode downloads in my entries or even episode images; it's nothing but summaries in my own words. Wikipedia is one of the leading sights for information and when you delete such a wide array of articles, you're getting rid of hard work done by people and it leaves site goers in the dark. So I say we keep the episode summaries. Angelic_Psyche
[edit] responding to your Naruto comment
Then you might as well take down episode articles about the Simpsons, South Park, King of the Hill, and others because they're "excessive" with information as you put it. Angelic_Psyche
[edit] About your nomination of all Naruto episodes
Wikipedia is not a paper encyclopedia. That means there's no limit to how many pages there can be for anything. If this isn't what you meant when you nominated the episodes, do you have some sort of hate for this series? Alexie talk
[edit] GNAA
Let's not go there. A range of admins have decided to close the AFD before it was meant to finish, I also didn't get a chance to comment. However, Jimbo Wales himself has decided that it shouldn't be around (I emailed him expressing my disgust, that's the response I got). I'd rather not have anything more to do with that article. It almost made me leave the project. - Ta bu shi da yu 05:12, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
