[edit] Unfortunate turn or phrase
- ...discovered during a search by Spaniards...
- "Discovered" implies that the area was uninhabited before, or that the original people were insignificant. There certainly were Native peoples in the area (I'll have to look up which, but I believe Yokuts, Mono, and Miwok for sure).--CodeGeneratR 17:01, 12 July 2005 (UTC)
-
- This sentence has been addressed, and changed to the proper contextual structure. As history notes that the Vikings "discovered" Greenland and northern areas of eastern Canada, and Columbus "discovered" the new world, even though there were indigenous peoples already in these areas at the time of their "discovery", it WAS a discovery for these travelers from the European continent... [edit] Citation Needed
"The county withdrew 3.7 billion gallons of fresh water per day in 2000, more than any other county in the United States."
[edit] Add Routes
Sorry for not logging in before adding all these highways, but they ARE verified, I have personally driven on all of them in the past 3 years. (Also helps that I'm a native!) I'll be updating any further route additions under Edit Centric, so the changes will be attributable to a single user...69.225.1.190 13:57, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] mention notable author
Could there be mentioned that this town was the home town of William Saroyan? There is theatre named after him, so maybe somewhere near that?--Paxik 10:19, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
- If we mention William Saroyan, we also have to mention OTHER notable persons from Fresno and it's surrounding areas as pertains to this article, such as Kevin Federline and others. I personally don't believe that this County article is the place for that list. Besides, it is already present in the CITY article. Please see Fresno,_California.Edit Centric 22:26, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] "In the 2004 presidential election, Clovis"
The above line was in the article under politics. I pulled it out since it's an incomplete sentence, but feel free to add it back if you can complete the sentence :) Janet13 01:46, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Politics Section
Who keeps putting it back up? It's not even accurate? Fresno County was 57% Republican in 2004! Get your facts straight. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.5.170.110 (talk) 20:23, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
I put information about the up-to-date voter registration within the county. I also removed a comment about the voter registration in the unincorporated areas being 2-1 GOP - this may have been true before, but is no longer.
[edit] Another call to whoever keeps putting the politics section up
Stop. You're misleading many people with your inaccurate table. If you're going to make a politics section, AT LEAST MAKE IT RIGHT. Having no information about Fresno County politics is better than having wrong information about it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.5.170.110 (talk) 22:46, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
