[edit] Terror and the emigres
In two places the article mentions the supposed effect of the Terror on the decimation of the (aristocratic) French officer corps. The King's government declared war on Austria on April 20, 1792; the Terror did not begin until September of 1793. The French armies had already been at war for a year and a half by the time the Terror began, and had passed from its disastrous early stage into the victories of Valmy and Jemappes and beyond. The Terror cannot be cited as having an effect on the organization of the French armies. Cypher z 21:18, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
