Talk:French Air Force

The French have an Air Force? That's funny. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.88.130.110 (talk • contribs) 23:32 UTC, March 31, 2006
Yeah they have an Air Force, knobby.
They build their own airplanes and everything. During the Falkland Islands War, that British ship that got hit by Argentinian aircraft was hit by French made anti-shipping missiles - which later on scared the Americans so much that they decided to build the phalanx anti-missile system - despite the fact the Soviet Union already had more dangerous missiles in their arsenal for some time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.52.5.224 (talk • contribs) 19:13 UTC, April 16, 2006
- Now that's what I call in-depth knowledge! The Falkland Island War took place in 1982. The Phalanx CIWS was developed during the 70's. --Paveway 12:27, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] First "Air Force"
This claim, even qualified as it is, is disingenuous. The Americans clearly have a claim by three years on any military organization using airplanes, even if part of the Army or Navy. The article acknowledges that the French Air Force as a separate service did not exist until the 30's, so if this is the criterion, then the RAF gets the nod, 1918 you know.--Buckboard 18:48, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Logo-armee-de-lair.jpg
Image:Logo-armee-de-lair.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Sorting between Armée de l'Air and Aéronavale
A question : looks to me the list of planes is wrong. The Rafale M are operated by the Navy (M stands for Marine). Don't ever tell a pilot or any other serviceman in the French Navy he belongs to the loosy Armée de l'Air...
