Talk:Fred

[edit] Notability of Mr Laboureur
m (non notable. not even PureBasic cites him.) The above is from the one who removed Fred from the list of Freds. YOU CAN'T READ, CAN YOU?
- I can read just as much as anyone can edit that article. Luckly, someone mentioned today how notable Mr. Fred PureBasic is. --Abu Badali 20:34, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] VFD
Note that this has been listed on votes for deletion.
I propose to rename it list of people by first name, add a few extra names, and make into a parallel of our list by surname. Comments, objections?
An alternative would be to move it to Fred and make it into a disambiguation page.
[edit] More people
Is it just me, or does it appear that there are probably more Freds worth writing about than what is on this page?
- There shouldn't be more people. This is a dab page, not a listing of people. Gflores Talk 21:11, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

- If you do a Google search on allintitle:fred site:en.wikipedia.org it finds about 1100 hits. OK, some of them will be user pages, redirects and suchlike. But that still leaves hundreds and hundreds of pages whose title says they are about "Fred". They all have an article in WP so they are all "notable".
- I suggest this page might say something like Fred is a very common forename. Other uses are: and then list in a disambiguation format all the non-personal-name Fred pages. Comments? - Hebrides 12:53, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

- Fine if you want it. But Gflores is correct, this isn't intended to be an exhaustive list. It's intended to dab among everyone that a user could reasonably seek under that name alone. E.g., the two Brazilian footballers who play under the single name -- they certainly need dab. Some of the others, e.g. Fred Flinstone, are probably excessive. No reasonable user would expect to find those people under the entry Fred. - PhilipR 07:49, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
