Freshwater bivalves
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Although most species of bivalve mollusks live in the sea, a number of different families of bivalves live exclusively in freshwater, and these are known as freshwater bivalves. Their habitats vary from small ditches to lakes and rivers.
One of the largest species of freshwater bivalves is the swan mussel which can grow to a length of 20cm, and is most commonly found in lakes or slow rivers.
