French ship Louis Quinze

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Louis Quinze is a ship of the line of the French Navy, built as a 1/36th scale model which is currently on display at the Musée national de la Marine. No actual ship of the French Navy bore the name.

The Louis Quinze is a 110-gun ship of the line, the strongest type built in France by that time; the only ship built to the specifications was the Royal Louis. The model is lavishly decorated, a feature characteristic of prestige warships of the Louis XIV era. It is believed that the model was built as an educational model for royal princes.
