She was was captured in May 1705 by the British vessel HMS Tryton. She is the first confirmed vessel to have been christened with the name Enterprise. It is thought likely that she served in the Mediterranean Sea.[citation needed]
After her capture by the British, it was re-christened HMS Enterprise and served in the British Royal Navy as a sixth-rate, or jackass frigate, until being wrecked October 12, 1707 near Thornton, England.[citation needed]
[edit] Other French "Enterprises"
The French Navy held, between 1671 and 1846, at least 23 sailing vessels christened with the name l'Entreprenant, French for Enterprising.[citation needed]
