French aircraft carrier Painlevé
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Painlevé was the planned second ship of the Joffre class of aircraft carriers for the French Navy. She was named in honour of Paul Painlevé. The ship was never laid down.
[edit] History
Painlevé was to be built at the shipyards of AC de St. Nazaire Penhoet, but with work on the lead ship Joffre slowed and ultimately halted by the events of World War II, her keel was never laid down.
