A referendum to approve the Évian Accords ending the Algerian War and granting self determination to Algeria was held in France on April 8, 1962. It was approved by a nearly ten-to-one margin.

On July 1, 1962, another related referendum took place, asking: "Do you want Algeria to become an independent state cooperating with France under the conditions defined by the 19 March 1962 declarations?" Only people living in Algeria could participate in this referendum. Most Europeans had already fled to avoid being killed by FLN, so they didn't vote. [1]. This referendum was approved by over 91% of the voters.
