Freeskier Magazine
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Freeskier Magazine is a skiing magazine based out of Boulder, Colorado. Freeskier focuses on the newer aspect of skiing pertaining to terrain parks, jibbing, big mountain and back-country riding. The magazine is published 6 times per year and has been growing in circulation rapidly over the past several years. The magazine is currently in its 10th volume. The magazine has recently ventured into new-media content delivery with their "Freeskier Magazine Podcast" and Freeskier.TV.
In October of 2007 Freeskier Magazine re-launched their website, freeskier.com. It now contains tools that allow community members to upload their own photos, news stories and videos. It has been meet with widespread acclaim from the ski industry and is growing in size. The website now allows users to download issues of the magazine in .pdf format one month after they have hit the newsstand. This is a very controversial issue in the magazine industry since Freeskier is not collecting any subscription revenue to procure these issues digitally.
[edit] Freeskier.TV on Resort Sports Network
Due to the overwhelming success of the magazine's digital assets (Freeskier Magazine Podcast and Freeskier.TV) Freeskier Magazine now produces Freeskier.TV, a 30 minute television program which will be broadcasted nationwide on the Resort Sports Network. Each episode features current events in the freeskiing world taking place from locations such as San Francisco, Aspen, Vail, Breckenridge, Park City and more. The show is hosted by David Amirault, shot and edited and produced by Mike Thomas. Episodes are mastered out in 1080i and will also be available through iTunes on the Freeskier Magazine Podcast this winter in standard and high definition formats.
