Free Apostolic Church of Pentecost

The Free Apostolic Church of Pentecost (Greek: Ελευθέρα Αποστολική Εκκλησία Πεντηκοστής) is the biggest Greek pentecostal church. Founded by Dr. Leonidas Feggos in 1965, it now counts more than 140 churches, 200 assemblies and over than 20,000 believers in Greece. Free Apostolic Church of Pentecost has churches and missions also in Cyprus, Albania, Bulgaria, Germany, Belgium, Slovakia, United Kingdom, U.S.A. (New York, Ohio and Florida), Australia and Africa.
Leonidas Feggos protested to various doctrines of the Apostolic Church of Pentecost which led him found an independent church without connections with the Assemblies of God. He claimed that a church must be independent, free, without depended on foreign churches which following him they are called organizations. That is why he named the church free.
His main doctrinal difference had to do with the following points:
- Marriage: He claimed that it can not be allowed the divorce act except of fornication case or a second marriage act in any case except of the case of death of the husband or wife.
- Musical instruments: He claimed that instruments are prohibited in the church.
- Women head covering and dressing: He claimed that during the prayer women must put a covering on their head. Also, that jeweleries, painting and pants are considered not modest for a woman.
Furthermore, he considered dangerous the reading of any other written edition except the Holy Bible. Although, since many years ago the Free Apostolic church of Pentecost publishes the newspaper Christianity.
