Free Academy

The Free Academy (Hebrew: האקדמיה החופשית) was founded in 1999 in Tel Aviv, Israel.

The Free Academy organizes debates, lectures, cultural demonstrations and exhibitions in several arts. Its members are poets, filmmakers or artists.

In the winter of 2005 The Free Academy published a new magazine, Maayan Magazine for poetry, art and ideas, and with its second issue appeared also Maarvon a supplement on cinema. In 2007 The group curated Herzliya Biennial.

Founders and top executives are Roy Arad ("Chicky"), Joshua Simon, Ari Libsker, Nimrod Kamer, Hagai Boaz, Maayan Strauss, Asaf Galay, Vaan Nguyen, Yossi Atia and others.
