Dunlap was the 23rd head football coach for the Lehigh Mountain Hawks and he held that position for eleven seasons, from 1965 until 1975. His overall coaching record at Lehigh was 49 wins, 62 losses, and 2 ties. This ranks him fifth at Lehigh in terms of total wins and 16th at Lehigh in terms of winning percentage. [1]

Dunlap was the 29th head football coach for the Colgate University Raiders and he held that position for twelve seasons, from 1976 until 1987.
