Frederick Augustus Tritle

Frederick Augustus Tritle (August 7, 1833 - November 18, 1906) was a United States Republican politician, best known for serving as Territorial Governor of Arizona.
Born in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, he served as a member of Nevada Senate in 1866. Later he unsuccessfully ran for Governor of Nevada in 1870 (losing to Democrat Lewis R. Bradley) and United States Senate from Nevada in 1880 (losing to Democrat James G. Fair).
Tritle was appointed Governor of Arizona Territory by President Chester A. Arthur in 1882 and served until 1885, when new President Grover Cleveland, a Democrat, appointed Governor from his own party. Tritle later was a delegate to the Arizona's constitutional convention in 1891.
A freemason and episcopalian, Tritle died in Phoenix, Arizona and was buried on Greenwood Memorial Park in Phoenix
